Kuala Lumpa
Kuala Lumpa
Malaysia
June 2006
6 days
First stop, Kuala Lumpar Malaysia.
After finding a suitably cheap hotel in china town after a massive walk with our bags, forgot how heavy my backpack was, we have been aclimitsing to KL.
Its scorching here, especially compared to melbourne in winter (which is like a mild english spring) - and its also mayhem around china town.
It makes such a difference to your persective of a place depending on where you stay, last time we stayed in the fancy modern bit with monorails and malls and in a 5 star hotel. This time we are in china town in an ok hostel, but at least its very foreign.
We have got back into eating roti - which is indian pancakes which are served with some curry sauce for dipping and are lovely (and cost about 20p - and can be a whole meal for both of us) - nice and cheap.
We've spent our first couple of nights staying up to watch the footie - saw the england disaster at penalties which was gutting.
Lorraine and i have been shopping to the various malls and stuff as well as some markets, bought a load of dvds and some computer games.
Tongiht we are off to bangsar which is a bar/restaurant area in the outskirts of KL, we hope to have burritos at the same place we went to a year ago.
This afternoon, we're off to the twin towers - there is a nice park and also a mall.
In a couple of days we fly to borneo - coool.
bye for now
