Koh Phagnan
Koh Phagnan
Thailand
September 2006
9 days
So we spent a while in Koh Samui, we found a cheap place with a pool which was directly under the main flight path to the airport - hence the cheapness - we ended up hanging out for a week or so there.
Then we went to Koh Phagnan, we headed straight for Tong Nai Pan and after a year its still one of the nicest beaches in the world we reckon.
Time for some big news, while on Tong Nai Pan i proposed to lorraine and she said yes! hurrah - so we're going to get married!
i did it on the beach at a restaurant in the evening, we had nice thai food and beers and lorraine said yes! so it was a good night.
we're not sure where we will get married, but we both do not belive in spending loads of money on traditional stuff (ie churches an all) so we might look to do it on the cheap in asia but we havent really figured anything out.
we spent about a week in tong nai pan, just chillin out on the beach and then we got a boat to Haad Rinn, party beach of south east asia.
we had just missed a full moon party, so it was nice and not too crazy there. We ended up spending about 4 nights there partying till the early hours enjoying buckets of whiskey and redbull - we found a really cool bar on our last night which played old stuff (dad would have loved it there) they even played my favourite stones track - 'paint it black'
we hired a scooter and were having a nice day exploring until we came across a wounded stray dog, a car hit it badly and both its hind legs are broken - this is in the middle of nowhere and the thing was in loads of pain. we rode to the nearest town to find help and called animal rescue with no luck, so we went back gave it some water and have just ridden to the other side of the island where animal rescue are - only to find them closed on saturdays! insanity - we tried again later and found someone there and told her about the poor thing.
we called back the following day and it turns out it wasnt a stray or anything and its owner had actually brought it in - phew, i even heard it barking on the phone. basically its legs werent broken but its hip might have been and even its spine may have been severed - pretty nasty stuff really - they were going to send it to koh samui for more xrays and stuff.
poor little dog, but we are both really glad that it is getting help, it was horrible having to leave it under a bush as it looked like it was finding somewhere to die, poor thing.
darn we are soppy gits
well after that we left koh phagnan and are now at a different island koh tao (basically we are re-tracing our steps from last year). we have a cople of weeks till we fly to vietnam for a month.
well that is all for now, soon i will be a married man scary huh?
