We spent a week hanging out in Koh Tao, we checked out a beach to the south but left after only one day as the beach was poor and there was nothing to do at night (well a couple of bars on the beach, but that was all). We ended up going to Sai Rai beach (again) and stayed at the same place (it had a pool) which was fine.
The best thing about Sai Rai beach was the food, there were so many different choices, we mostly ate italian and mexican food - beers were a bit expensive but it was OK.
