Koh Lanta

After another not so action packed but long minivan journey we arrive in Koh Lanta with no idea of where we want to go or stay. We have a tourist map and it names one beach Klong Nin as a good place for budget travellers so we figure that'll do.

We quickly find somewhere to stay, the first place i look at i take (this NEVER happens) and its fine, very clean and comfortable and cheap.

The beach is lovely, the sea is clear and we're basically in paradise. Everyone in Koh Lanta are SO friendly, not like the slightly jaded falseness of most of the other tourist centers, everyone seems genuinly interested to meet and chat - its pretty cool - must be something to do with being at the start of the season, everyone just starting their year of work or something.

We spend about a week hanging out in Koh Lanta, not really doing much.

We hire a motorscooter and cruise round the island checking out the other beaches, ours is the best, so we dont move beach.

We also drive past a few 5star resorts and what with our wedding looming we decide to check them out. They are pretty amazing and the next few days involve us trying to sort out getting married in Koh Lanta, it gets really really close at one place, we go back for a 2nd appointment, the manager takes us around the place and we check out some of the most luxurious rooms i have ever seen (pool villa, 300 quid a night!) and we are SO close to booking it. BUT it all falls apart as they can do a wedding ceremony and stuff but it wont actually be a legal wedding which seems pointless to us, also it destroys our original budget.

So since then we have been looking around for places other than sri lanka to get married in, but so far its still looking like Sri Lanka, will let you know when we get something booked - soon i hope as we both need to start getting outfits made and rings bought and stuff.

Anyway koh lanta was great and close to being where we got hitched, but not to be, in fact the whole of thailand is out due to the difficulty of legally getting married there (have to go all the way back to bangkok to do it)

Well after Lanta we go to Georgetown in malaysia, which is where we are at the moment.
