we are now in Chaweng beach and it has changed so much since the last time i was here, it is very VERY built up, lots of stuff everywhere and the beach is very crowded although yesterday we bought lilos and have spent a couple of peaceful days floating about in the surf on them! lorraine even caught a wave today, by accidident and was carried all the way to the beach.
while we were in koh samui, we did hire a jeep for a day and drove about, the roads were good although the signposting seemed a little random so we kept missing our turnings etc..
we were going to go go-karting, but it was too expensive, same with quad biking as well so in the end we explored various beaches and water falls, in fact we ended up booking a bungalow in lamai for the following day.
in the evening i drove us to this restaurant on a cliff where i had the nicest steak ever and lorraine had some really nice chicken (and for once our meals arrived together!) - quite expensive but the food and the views were worth it.
we spent about a week after that in Lamai which is a beach just to the south of chaweng - we got this bungalow right on the beach and i finally found a place to hang my hammock and we spent several lazy days chillin listening to music.
we also went to a foam party which was an insane amount of fun - the foam was up to my chest in some places and there was practically waterfall of the stuff - madness - 2 buckets later we stumbled home and i had easily my worst hangover so far the following day!

...Anyway, got there eventually and its like Ive taken a flight thousands of miles back to Eurpoe and ended up on some cheap package holiday in Spain. It is quite tacky here - v. built up and a bit more pricey than we are used to. Were staying on Chaweng beach and its huge. Its probably a nice beach but I cant really tell and its packed with people and sunloungers. But if you cant beat them join them. We bought a couple of lilos and caught soem waves on them which was fun. Although I am avoiding the sun today as I got a bit burnt. Were going to hire a jeep tomorrow and explore the whole island - hopefully find a place that is a bit nicer.

The ideal setup! a beach hut right on the beach, with a hammock a decent book and of course an ipod and speakers cranking out tunes!
