when we left Laos we could have taken a 2 day boat trip to thailand but decided to treat ourselves to a flight instead. We are now in Chang Mai in northern thailand and have been here for a couple of days. We havent really done anything, cept visit a few malls and eat junk food (no mcdonalds for over a month!) and get ourselves reaquantited with Chang beer (the cheapest on offer and after beer laos our hangovers were not good!).
i think we are going to hang around for a nother day and then head to a hippy town called Pai about 3.5hrs away.

Spent about 3 days there and then flew back into Northern Thailand - Chang Mai. The weather has not been so great here as we wanted to go white water rafting but the river level is to high so its unsafe so have spent the last couple of days in shopping malls instead! Although a lot more lively here at night then in Laos where pub shut at 11.30. Here they are open all night - there was even a drugs bust in the area where we were the other night with tv camera following the police about. Have yet to see it on telly though - although I never watch thai tv!
Not sure how long Ill stay here - depends on weather. Might head back down to some Islands for some sun - miss the beach.
Anyway, sorry about the moaning at the start - moral of story is that Southern Loas is s*** and Northern Laos is good.
