Well after a few days in Pai, we decided that we missed beach life so we travelled back to bangkok (14hrs - ouch) then stayed the night on Koh San Road - v. overpriced crummy accomodation (had a burger king tho) then we went to Koh Samet on the east coast of thailand.
Koh Samet was very beautiful with probabl;y the nicest beach weve seen in thailand, very clear water and lovely white sand. We hung out for about a week or so eating some really nice bbq chicken kebabs, drinking chang and rediscovering hangovers. We also went on a boat trip around the island which was nice to see some other beaches, including this fancy one with only 5* resorts on where we tortured ourselves by askng how much the rooms were (starting at 50 quid a night, going up to 350!)

Then went back to bangkok for a day and then onto Koh Samet - an Island on the east. It was a nice island probably with one of the best beaches weve seen in Thailand so far - as it had white sandy beaches and really clear water. Also ate lovely BBQ chicken every night. Went on a round the island tour - was ok but visibility for snorkelling was poor and it was supposedto include fishing - they gave some of us a plastic bottle with some line wrapped round and a stone and a bit of bait. although there was not enough to go round! Needless to say I failed to catch anything.
Spent about 5 0r 6 days there just mainly lying round the beach and then had a hellish journey to the next island - Koh Chang
