We left the following day failing to do anything, and headed north for Byron Bay.
Byron bays accomodationleft a lot to be desired as we arrived in the evening and everywhere was full, we ended up paying a small fortune to stay in separate dorms, which was a bit lame, then the second night we moved to a more expensive double which was also lame. Byron bay itself is an interesting place, the beach is lovely, and the weather was baking hot - has been since december (the official start of summer here) but everything is SO expensive in byron bay, we could not really afford to do much. It was also insanly busy and there were very few drinking options (only one in our price range) - we left after a day.

Went to Byron Bay after that for a couple of days - didnt enjoy it v. much - it was packed and we couldnt get any decent accommodation - had to stay in some overpriced slum. Also food and drink was expensive. The only good thing was the beach.

The beach was great
