Another visit to this gorgeous town. The highlight was the visit to the new spa. We went on a Monday morning, and it was pleasantly uncrowded. The spa was a millenium project to restore and rebuild the original spa, which had fallen into disuse. The project was 5 years late in opening, and I think also 5 times over budget. Nevertheless, the result is stunning. Especially the open air roof-top pool and jacuzzi. Completely surreal, lying in the naturally warm water, looking out over the cathedral and rooftops of bath, with the green hills in the background.

There is also a larger pool in the basement, on the site of an original Roman bath, and 4n steam rooms on the third floor, of varying temperatures. There is also a huge and very powerful shower to stand under when you come out of the steam room. All the water is naturally warm so none of that scary coming out of hot room then having cold shower business.

After our visit to the spa (cost £19.00 each for two hours - seemed expensive, but actually worth it) we had a selection of tapas and some drinks in a pub not far away, which happened to be next door to one of my favourite CD shops, so that rounded of an excellent morning.

Meanwhile we had helped Conrad in his move out of his flat in Bath by taking a huge wardrobe and some other stuff to the tip, and then squatting in his unfurnished flat for a few days after he had moved to Bristol.
