We'd read about a beer festival on in Cologne so made our way there. It was starting later in the afternoon so we had a walk around the colourful, cute centre with it's wacky buildings and cobbled stone streets and bars, bars, bars everywhere. Found the Cathedral, which wasn't hard since it's so massive. Kind of scary looking too with all the freaky statues and tall spires.
But then it was drinking time. The festival was fairly small, but it got busy later on. A whole bunch of stalls from different countries were set up in a park with the typical german beerhall style long tables set up outside to sit and drink and eat at. Tried a bunch of different beers, cherry, banana, apple, normal beer, and some wine too, and some really good german food, the size of some of the wurst was amazing! Had a good afternoon/night trying different drinks and food and listening to the germans sing and carry on. Nothing compared to Munich, but still fun.
