August 2007
Mon 20 Aug
It was rainy and cloudy and there was no point staying in the mountains anymore. I was so disappointed because I'd been wanting to stay a least another couple of days yet. Bought some souveniers in Grindlewald and then head off.
Spent most of the day in Bern, got some more souveniers and walked around the old town. Watched the big Glockenspiel strike the hour (everyone seemed to be waiting for a show but very little happened!) Bern was fairly pretty, lots of old buildings, the river running through the centre with its mini-waterfalls, plenty of nice designer shops too. The only sad part were the bears that they keep in a concrete pit that you can peer into. That was wrong.
Left Bern and crossed into Germany, stayed just over the border overnight.
