France Cannes France Cote d'Azur

Fri 10 Aug
Decided we wanted to stay the night in Nice, so we left Cannes and cruised up to Nice and found a free park in a huge open carpark. Went for a walk around and hung out at the beach for a while. It was the first pebbly beach we'd seen in a while and it was kinda painful getting in and out of the water, but it was worth it. The water had turned the bright aqua I'd been waiting to see, and it was really weird swimming in water that colour. Nice's old town was really cool, lots of skinny streets with beautiful old buildings, cafes, bars and delis everywhere. Prettier and less posh than St Tropez and Cannes, and more historic.
Hung out in the carpark most of the night with a bunch of French guys and girls who were packing up this huge truck they'd turned into a campervan before heading off on a roadtrip that night. Never mind that the driver was just as drunk as the rest of us! It was good fun having a chat and a drink with some locals. After they left we went for a walk around the old town and found a bar that had a few people drinking in it. I think our two drinks cost something like 15 Euro, so that was the end of that! Nice was cool though, I'd go back there again.
