Puebla

11th November 2006

Only here for one day but its a very pretty town renowned for its ceramics and tiles on walls of buildings.... and of course churches!

On the way out to dinner that evening I was walking in front of the group when a local kid in his early twenties walked up alongside me..... speaking in Spanish I didnt understand him and assumed he was trying to sell me something. Then he realised I was English and he started saying I was attractive!!! Turned out he fancied me! I quickly moved alongside Sarah and told him I was taken but he followed us for ages telling his mates and our group that he liked me.... was all very funny and although it wasn´t really what I wanted I was still flattered in a strange kinda way!

We had a relaxing next day browsing around the shops and streets and sitting in the square watching the world go by.

In the afternoon we all hiked up a covered pyramid still hidden by grass and sitting on the top what else but a Church stuck thereby the Spanish when they invaded. The Spanish were famous for ripping down great Mayan architecture and plonking another church in its place.

We weren´t there to see the church but instead the sunset. We sat quietly for two hours and it wasn´t the best we´d seen but still worthy of a few photos (check em out!) It put us in a relaxed and sleepy mood ready for the 11 hour night bus to San Cristabol. Driving east through the night we all slept like babies..... forget night nurse or sleeping pills.... try sticking Stephen Hawkins &Quot;Universe in a Nutshell&Quot; and I defy you to stay awake beyond chapter one.... worked a treat!
